Over the Chrismas holidays, my daughter and I had the chance to travel up the California coast. We spent 3 days there driving where the wind blew us, exploring side roads and spending time wherever we thought looked good. No plans, no intinerary. PBJ's in the cooler and just enjoying.
It was an interesting time to visit. The weather was the best December on record (no rain!) and the crowds and mosquitos were non-existent (yay!). It was like we had the entire coast to ourselves. With no traffic, it was easy to just pull over, back up, or turn around and spend time on the side of the road shooting things that just happened to catch our eye as we were meadering up the coast. These shots are mostly from the side of the road. More posts to follow!

| Our first morning out, this was the best sunrise! Near Big Lagoon, on Hwy 101 |

| Not far from the same spot as sunrise, was this ethereal light coming through the fog later in the day. |
| We saw several herds of Roosevelt elk along the roads. |
| Mornings were frosty cold |
| The schoolhouse sits in an open field along the road, a popular place for elk grazing. |
